Our Story

Why we exist

Greensboro, NC has been punching above its weight in sports for generations — from the Greater Greensboro Open and the founding of the ACC to decades of ACC and NCAA championships. Sports are not a side business here; they are one of the strongest engines for tourism, pride and opportunity in our city.

Greensboro Sports Foundation exists to make sure that when the biggest stages in sport come looking for a home, Greensboro is not just on the list — we are the obvious choice. Our job is to bring major events to Greensboro, deliver them at a championship level and connect them to the community so the impact lasts long after the final whistle.
