About Us
Our History
The Tournament Host Committee of Greensboro (THOG) was incorporated on Dec. 30, 1993.
THOG began as a community-wide hospitality entity that assisted the City of Greensboro/Greensboro Coliseum Complex in hosting major sporting events. THOG was supported by the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Greensboro Sports Council, Greensboro Sports Commission and the Greensboro Partnership.
After 24 years of developing a very successful model, the organization was rebranded in 2018 as the Greensboro Sports Foundation and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) designated organization.
The goal of the rebranding is to further enhance Greensboro’s national reputation as ‘Tournament Town’ and build an organization with the ability to develop strategic partners to better position Greensboro for the execution of major sporting events.
